However the hadith of Hudhaifa is invalid, becomes it comes by way of Al-Walid ibn Jami’, who is a disbeliever [halik, i.e. narrations rejected], and we do not see that he knows who fabricated the hadith. Indeed he narrated reports in which Abu Bakr, ‘Umar, ‘Uthman, Talha, and Sa’d ibn Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with them) intended to kill the Prophet (may Allah pray upon him and his house and salute him) and hurl him from Al-‘aqaba in Tabuk. This is the fabricated lie, the fabricator of which Allah Most High will curse; any association to him is invalidated. And praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
