From Hassan Ibn ‘Atiyya who traced it back to the Prophet (SAW), who said: Ablution [wudu’] is half of faith, and the teeth-cleaning stick [siwak] is half of wudu’, and were it not hard on my people, I would order them to use the siwak for every prayer; a set of two rak’ats in which a man uses a siwak is better than seventy rak’a in which he does not use a siwak.
