From Rabi’a, who said: The Prophet (may Allah pray over him and his household and salute him) became aware that some people had slandered him, saying of him: “Indeed Muhammad is like a palm tree that grew out of a pile of trash.” And the Messenger of Allah (may Allah pray over him and his household and salute him) became angry and said: “Oh people! Indeed Allah created His creation, and made two groups out of them, and made me of the best of the two groups, then made tribes out of them, and made me of the best tribe among them, then made families out of them, and made me of the best family among them.” Then the Messenger of Allah (may Allah pray over him and his household and salute him) said: “I am of the best tribe out of you all, and of the best family of you all.”
