From Ibn ‘Abbas, who said: When the Prophet’s (SAW) ailment became intense, He said: “Bring me a page and I will write something for you all, after which you will never go astray.” ‘Umar said: “The Prophet (SAW)’s pain has really gotten to him! – we have the book of Allah and that is enough for us.” But the people disagreed about this and the uproar was great. He said: “Get up from in front of me – I don’t need any quarrelling around me.” So Ibn ‘Abbas left and said: “Such a disaster what happened between the Messenger of Allah (SAW) and him writing that.”
