Abu Huraira related that a certain man from among the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (SAW) travelled by a mountain pass where there was a small spring of fresh water, and was delighted by how pleasant it was, and he said: If I could just stay and live in this mountain pass and get away from people – but I won’t until I first consult with the Messenger of Allah (SAW). So he mentioned this to the Prophet (SAW), who said: Don’t do it – indeed staying and living for the sake of Allah it is better than sixty years of prayer in solitude; do you all not wish for Allah to forgive you and admit you to Jannah? Go out on raids for the sake of Allah! Whoever fights for the sake of Allah for the time that elapses between two milkings of a camel – Jannah is indispensably his.
