عوف عن الحسن قال لما قُبض رسول الله ﷺ ائتمر أصحابه فقالوا تربّصوا بنبيكم ﷺ لعله عُرج به قال فتربصوا به حتى ربا بطنه فقال أبو بكر من كان يعبد محمداً فإنه محمداً قد مات ومن كان يعبد الله فإن الله حي لا يموت

From ‘Awf, from Hasan, who said: When the Messenger of Allah (SAW) was taken, his Companions deliberated and said: Wait on your Prophet (SAW), that perhaps He might ascend. And so they waited over him, to the point that his belly became bloated. And Abu Bakr said: Whoever worshipped Muhammad – indeed Muhammad has died; but whoever worshipped Allah – indeed Allah is alive and will never die.
