فإذا عزم على نكاح إمرأةٍ فالسنه أن ينظر إلى وجهها وكفَّيها قبل أن يخطِبها وإن لم تأذَن في ذلك وله تكرير النظر ولا ينظر غير الوجه والكفين

Whenever someone intends to enter into marital relations [nikah] with a woman, then it is sunnah that he should look at her face and hands before getting engaged, even if she doesn’t give permission for this. And he is allowed to look repeatedly, but he is not to look at anything besides the face and hands.
