{ Surely those who have believed, and those who are Jews, and Christians, and Sabians, those who believe in Allah and the last day, and do good – they have their reward with their Lord, and have no cause for fear, nor will they sorrow } Al-baqara 62

Al-Suddi said: { Surely those who have believed, and those who are Jews, and Christians, and Sabians, those who believe in Allah and the last day, and do good } and the rest of the verse: this came down regarding the companions of Salman Al-Farisi, while he was talking to the Prophet (SAW) and mentioning his companions, and told Him about them; he said: They pray, they fast, they believe in you, and bear witness that you will be sent forth as a prophet. And when Salman had finished praising them, the Prophet of Allah (SAW) said to him: Oh Salman, those are among the people of hellfire! And this was very difficult for Salman, so Allah sent down this verse.
