Abu Sufyan ibn Al-Harith ibn ‘Abd Al-Muttalib and Abdullah ibn Abi Umayyah ibn Al-Mughira had also met up with the Messenger of Allah (SAW) at Neeq Al-‘uqab between Mecca and Medina, and sought to go in to see Him. Umm Salamah spoke to Him about the two of them; she said: Oh Messenger of Allah, your [paternal] cousin and your [maternal] cousin and brother-in-law. He said: I have no need of them; as for my cousin, he ravished my honour [hataka ‘irdy, he ripped my body, i.e. he raped me], and as for my cousin and brother-in-law, he was the one who said to me what he said to me in Mecca. When the news of this reached the two men, Abu Sufyan said – and he had his little son with him: I swear by Allah, let him give me permission to see him, otherwise I’ll take this little son of mine by the hand and we will go roam the land until we die of hunger and thirst! When the Messenger of Allah (SAW) heard what he had said, He had compassion on them and gave them permission, and they went in, and yielded into Islam.
