‘Abd Al-Malik ibn Al-Rabi’ ibn Al-Sabra related from his father, from his grandfather, who said: The Prophet (SAW) said: Order young boys to observe prayer when they reach seven years of age, and when they reach ten years of age, beat them concerning it.
