Muharib said: I heard Jabir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) say: I got married, and the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said to me: What have you married? Jabir said: I married a previously married woman. And He said: What's with you, don't you like virgins and their saliva [li'abiha]* ? And I [the narrator] mentioned that to 'Amr ibn Dinar, and 'Amr said: I heard Jabir ibn Abdullah say: The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said to me: Why not a young servant girl [jariyah] so you can play with her and she can play with you?
- Sahih Al-Bukhari, The book of marital relations

* “l-‘abiha” with a kasra (i) vowel on the “l”, this being the verbal root of foreplay [mulaa’aba]. In Al-fath it says: In the narration of Al-Mustamli it appears as “lu-‘abiha” with a damma (u) vowel on the “l”, the meaning being saliva. In this is an indication of sucking on her tongue and sipping her lip, which does in fact occur during foreplay and kissing.
