The fourth [cause for ritual impurity] is touching the crotch of a human with the inside of the palm and fingers in particular, even if inadvertently or without desire, in the front or in the rear, male or female, oneself or someone else, and even a dead person or a child; but this is retracted if one is clothed with leather or is crippled, or even severed or with a paralyzed hand; not so [i.e. there is no impurity] for the crotch of an animal, and neither with the tips of the fingers or what is between them, or the edge of the palm.
