Yusha’ [Joshua] set out to fight the mighty giants [Jabbarun] among the people, and Bal’am set out with the Jabbarun on his female donkey, seeking to curse the Children of Israel. But every time he wanted to invoke a curse over the Children of Israel, he invoked it over the Jabbarun. The Jabbarun said: Truly you are invoking a curse over us! And Bal’am said: Indeed I intended it for the Children of Israel. And when he reached the city, an angel grabbed the donkey’s tail and held her back, and he [Bal’am] began to move her around, but she did not move. But when he beat her even harder, she spoke, and said: You have sex with me [tankihuniy] at night and ride me during the day?! What torment I get from you! If I could bear to go on, I’d go on, but this angel is restraining me.
