'Aishah, the Prophet's (SAW) wife, related that Al-Harith ibn Hisham asked the Messenger of Allah: How does inspiration come to you? The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: Sometimes it comes to me like the ringing of bells, and this is the most intense for me, then it breaks away from me, and I remember what it said; and sometimes the angel appears to me as a man and speaks to me, and I remember what he says. 'Aishah said: I saw it coming down to him on an intensely cold day, and it broke away from him, and indeed his forehead was dripping sweat.
