From ‘Aishah, mother of the believers (may Allah be pleased with her), who said: A certain woman extended her hand to the Messenger of Allah (SAW) from behind the curtain with a letter, but the Messenger of Allah (SAW) held back his hand and said: I don’t know if this is a man’s hand or a woman’s hand. She said: Well, a woman’s hand. And He said: If you were a woman you would do your nails with henna.
And she (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (SAW) say: Truly I hate for women to be uncolored and unmarked, with no eyeliner on their eyes and no color on their hands.
