It [washing] is obligatory for a man upon discharge of semen [maniy] and upon penetration of the head of the penis into any opening, whether in the front or the rear, male or female, even an animal, or a little boy into a little girl. And it is obligatory for a woman upon discharge of her semen [maniy] and from any penis that enters her front part or her rear, even if it is crippled or it is of a young boy or animal, and in menstruation and the postpartum period, or in the dry birth of a child; this is contingent upon the entire head of the penis becoming concealed. And if a man sees semen on a garment or a bed that he sleeps in with someone from whom he is able to produce progeny, both of them are obliged to wash.
