The prostatic secretion [wady]: white fluid that comes out after urine; only ablution [wudu’ ] is required regarding it, since the Law does not bear on anything beyond this regarding it. And what if something comes out from a man and he does not know whether it is semen or something else? Attentiveness is in order but no washing necessary, because the semen that necessitates washing comes out forcefully from desire and can not be suspected to be anything else. And if it happens during sleep, and his sleep followed arousal as a result of playing with a woman of his household or a thought of something, then it is pre-ejaculate [madhy], since this is the cause of pre-ejaculate, and it is clear that it is pre-ejaculate. And if it is not such, then he must wash himself, based on the hadith of ‘Aishah regarding one who finds wetness, and because the emission of semen during sleep is familiar, and other things are rare, and the issue is borne on what is familiar.
