‘Urwa ibn Mas’ud said, when the Quraish directed him to the Messenger of Allah (SAW) in the year of the issue, and he saw what he saw of how the Companions exalted Him, that hardly did He perform ablution but that they would rush to get his ablution water, and they almost killed each other over it. And hardly did He spit out something, or clear his throat of phlegm, but that they would catch it in the palms of their hands, and rub it over their faces and their bodies. And hardly did a hair fall from him, but that they would rush to get it. Whenever He ordered them to do something, they rushed to his order; and whenever He talked, they lowered their voices in his presence; and they did not fix their gaze on him out of exaltation towards him.
