Ibn Khalikan related regarding what had been conveyed from what Sheikh Qutb Al-Deen Al-Yunini had written down; he said: It came to our awareness that there was a man called Abu Salama from the region of Busra, who was a reckless joker. The teeth-cleaning stick [siwak] and its merits were mentioned to him, and he said: “I swear by Allah, I don’t use a siwak except in the exit”; he meant his rear end. And he took a siwak, put it in his exit, and then took it out. After this he remained for nine months, and then delivered a child that looked like a rat, having four limbs, a head like the head of a fish, and a rear end like the rear end of a rabbit. And when he delivered it, the animal shrieked three times; the man’s daughter got up and smashed its head and it died. And the man lived two days after his delivery and died on the third; saying: “This animal killed me and ripped up my intestines.”
