{ Shall you not fight a people who have broken their oaths and were intent on expelling the Messenger, and started with you the first time? Do you fear them? For Allah is more worthy that you should fear Him, if you are Believers. Fight them; Allah will punish them by your hands and disgrace them, and will give you the victory over them, and will heal the bosoms of a believing people. And He will drive out the fury from their hearts; for Allah turns towards who He wishes; and Allah is knowing, wise } Al-tawba 13-15

When Allah admonished them about abandoning fighting, He got right to the point with them about the command; He said: { Fight them } . And He promised them – to affirm their hearts and make their intentions right – that He would punish them with killing by their hands, would disgrace them with imprisonment, and would empower them with victory and subjugation over them. { And will heal the bosoms } : of a group of the Believers, these being the Khuza’a; Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: These were a clan from Yemen and Saba’ who came to Mecca, yielded into Islam, and met with severe harm from their people. They let the Messenger of Allah (SAW) know about this, complaining to him, and He said: Rejoice, for indeed relief is near. { And He will drive out the fury } from your hearts, when you faced unpleasantness from them. And Allah made every one of these promises come true for them, and this is proof of the Messenger of Allah’s (SAW) authenticity and the veracity of his prophethood.
