{ How can there be a covenant from Allah and from His Messenger towards the Idolaters, except those with whom you made covenant at the Sacred Mosque? As long as they are straightforward with you, be straightforward with them; indeed Allah loves the devout. How then? If they prevail over you, they will observe neither covenant nor safeguard with you; they please you with their mouths but their hearts refuse; and most of them are depraved } Al-tawba 7-8

{ They please you with their mouths } ; indeed He is saying: With their tongues they give you words that are contrary to the enmity and hostility that they conceal from you within themselves. { But their hearts refuse } : that is, their hearts refuse to concede to you by confirming what they have shown you with their tongues. He (may His praise be exalted) is warning the Believers about them, and sharpening them up to kill them and ravage them wherever they are found on Allah’s earth, and to not be negligent in loathing them to the fullest extent that they are able.
