From Salama ibn Nufail Al-Kindi, who said: I was sitting with the Messenger of Allah (SAW), and a man said: Oh Messenger of Allah, people have left the steeds behind, they have laid down their weapons, and they say there is no more jihad, since the war has put down its burdens. And the Messenger of Allah (SAW) turned his face towards him and said: They lie; now, now the fighting has come, and there will not cease to be in my ummah an ummah who fights for the truth, of which Allah will cause the hearts of some to deviate, and grant them bounty from them, until the hour comes, until the promise of Allah is fulfilled. The finest things are tied to the forelocks of steeds until resurrection day. And it is revealed to me that I am about to be taken and have not been given much more time; and you all will follow after me as rivals, cutting off each other’s heads. And the place of shelter in the land of the Believers is Sham.
