وكتب إلى المقوقِس ملك مصر والاسكندرية بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم من محمد عبدالله ورسوله إلى المُقَوقِس عظيم القبط سلام على من إتبع الهدى أما بعد فإني أدعوك بدعاية الاسلام أسلم تسلم وأسلم يؤتِك الله أجرك مرتين فإن تولّيتَ فإن عليك إثم القبط ﴿ يا أهل الكتاب تعالوا إلى كلمة سواءٍ بيننا وبينكم أن لا نعبد إلا الله ولا نشرك به شيئاً ولا يتخذ بعضنا بعداً أرباباً من دون الله فإن تولوا اشهدوا بأنا مسلمون ﴾ قرآن
زاد المعاد لإبن قيم الجهاد والغزوات فصل ذكر هديه ﷺ في مكاتباته إلى الملوك وغيرهم
And He wrote to Maqawqis king of Egypt and Alexandria: In the name of Allah the Merciful the Compassionate, from Muhammad the Servant of Allah to Maqawqis the Great One of the Copts: Peace to those who follow guidance. Now then, indeed I announce to you the announcement of Islam: Yield into Islam and be safe! Yield into Islam, that Allah may come to you with your reward twice over. But if you turn away, indeed the sin of the Copts is upon you; { Say: “Oh People of the Book! Come to a word of equal terms between you and us, that we worship Allah alone, nothing do we associate with Him, and we do not take some of us as lords besides Him” } . But if they turn away, [then say]: “Bear witness that we are Muslims” } [Al ‘Imran 64].
