{ Oh you who have believed! Shall I attest to you all of a transaction that will deliver you from painful punishment? That you believe in Allah and His Messenger, and wage jihad in the cause of Allah with your wealth and with yourselves; this is better for you, if only you knew. He will forgive your sins and will admit you into gardens below which rivers flow and pleasant dwelling places in gardens of Eden; this is the great victory. And other things that you love – support from Allah and impending victory. So give the good news to the Believers! } Al-saff 10-13

Then He said: { It is He who has sent His Messenger } : Muhammad (SAW); { with guidance and the religion of truth } : namely, Islam, that is, Muhammad’s (SAW) religion; { to make it manifest over all religion } : that is, all religions. And Allah in fact did this, may He be exalted, and He made Muhammad’s (SAW) religion triumph over the adherents of every religion, when He killed them and they gave him jizya, as in His word: { We came to the aid of those who believed, against their enemy, and they became the ones who prevailed } [Al-saff 14]. { Even if the Idolaters dislike it } : among the Arabs, that is, the Disbelievers [Kuffar] of Quraysh, when this verse came down: { Indeed Allah loves those who fight in His cause lined up in ranks, as if they were a firmly packed structure } [Al-saff 4]. Some of them said: Oh Messenger of Allah, what reward do we get if we wage jihad in the cause of Allah? So Allah Most High sent down: { Oh you who have believed! Shall I attest to you all of a transaction that will deliver you from painful punishment? } : that is, grievous; and the Muslims said: By Allah, if only we knew what this transaction was, we would give our wealth, our children, and our kinsfolk. So Allah made clear to them what this transaction was, namely, asserting one god [tawhid, unification].
