{ And what is with you all, that you do not spend for the sake of Allah, when the inheritance of the heavens and the earth is Allah’s? Those of you who spent before the conquest, and fought, are not on the same level – they are a degree above those who spent and fought afterwards; but Allah has promised good things to both; and Allah is mindful of what you do } Al-hadid 10

{ And what is with you all, that you do not spend } : regarding that you do not spend; { when the inheritance of the heavens and the earth is Allah’s? } : He inherits everything that is in them; nothing remains that He owes anyone, money or otherwise. The meaning is: What is your reason for neglecting to spend for the sake of Allah and wage jihad with the Messenger of Allah, the One who destroys you and is heir to your wealth?; it is He who has made known the call to spend for the sake of Allah.
