تتفسير الجلالين
{ Permission has been given to those who fight, because they have been oppressed; indeed Allah is truly able to give them victory. Those who have been driven from their homes for no reason except that they say “Allah is our Lord”; and if Allah had not driven people away, some by means of others, then monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques in which the name of Allah is mentioned much, would have been ruined; truly Allah champions those who champion Him; indeed Allah is strong, mighty. Those who, if we establish them in the land, observe prayer, bring zakat, and prescribe what is right and prohibit what is wrong; and to Allah belongs the conclusion of all matters } Al-hajj 39-41
{ Permission has been given to those who fight } : that is, to the Believers that fight; this was the first verse to come down concerning jihad; { because they } : that is, for the reason that; { they have been oppressed } : by the oppression of the Disbelievers towards them; { indeed Allah is truly able to give them victory } : “them” being { those who have been driven from their homes for no reason } : for them being driven out – they were not driven out { except that they say } : that is, for them saying { Allah is our Lord } alone; but this saying is true, and therefore being driven out for it means being driven out unduly … { Truly Allah champions those who champion Him } : that is, who champion His religion [deen].
