Scholars disagreed concerning dealing out the plunder after the time of the Messenger of Allah. A group of them said it should be for the leaders [imams] after him. Al-Shafi’i had two points of view; one of them is that it should be for the fighters whose names have been confirmed in the register of jihad, since they rose up in place of the Prophet (SAW) to terrorize the enemy.
