{ Truly you will find the Jews and the Idolaters the most severe of people in enmity against those who have believed, and truly you will find those who say “We are Christians” to be the nearest of them in affection to those who have believed; this is because there are priests and monks among them, and because they are not arrogant } Al-ma'ida 82

{ Truly you will find the Jews and the Idolaters the most severe of people in enmity against those who have believed } : this is only because the disbelief of the Jews is a stubborn and defiant disbelief, defaming the truth, condescending, and cutting down those who transmit knowledge. This is why they killed many of the prophets, to the point of being intent on killing the Messenger of Allah (SAW) more than once; they poisoned him, they bewitched him, and they incited Idolaters like them against him. May the never-ending curses of Allah be upon them until resurrection day. … From Abu Huraira, who said: Never does a Jew ever get alone with a Muslim but that he intends to kill him. … { And truly you will find those who say “We are Christians” to be the nearest of them in affection to those who have believed } : that is, those who claim that they are Christians, among the followers of the Messiah, and who observe their Injil. In general they are friendly towards Islam and its people, and this is only because of the gentleness and compassion that is in their hearts whenever they observe the religion of the Messiah. … And fighting is not prescribed in their religion.
