One of the women came to the Messenger of Allah (SAW) and said: There is one Lord of both men and women, you are the Messenger to us and to them, our father is Adam and our mother is Eve, so then what is the reason that Allah thinks of the men but doesn’t think of us? So this verse came down. She said: Men have taken precedence over us in jihad, so what is there for us? And He said: Indeed any pregnant woman among you gets the reward of someone who fasts and prays, and whenever labor pains strike her, no one knows what reward she gets; and if she nurses, she gets, for every suck, the reward of bringing a soul to life.
