{ And how many prophets have there been, with whom many pious, learned men fought who did not lose heart at what came upon them for the sake of Allah, nor grew weak, nor succumbed; and Allah loves those who are steadfast } Al ‘Imran 146

{ Who did not lose heart at what came upon them for the sake of Allah } : they were not thwarted due to the pain of the injuries that came upon them, that came upon them in the cause of Allah, nor were they thwarted, due to the killing of those of them who were killed, from battling Allah’s enemies; nor did they shy away from their jihad. … { And Allah loves those who are steadfast } : this is saying that Allah loves these men, and those like them who are steadfast in His orders and in obedience to Him and obedience to His Messenger concerning jihad against His enemy, not those who become scared and run away from His enemy, nor those who turn on their heels and cringe towards His enemy.
