{ Do not grow weary and do not be saddened; you are the ones on top, if you are Believers. If injury touches you, similar injury has also touched the other side; We alternate such days between people, so Allah may know those who have believed, and take martyrs from among you; Allah does not love the wrongdoers } Al ‘Imran 139-140

{ If injury touches you, similar injury has also touched the other side } : that is, if woundings have befallen you and some of you have been killed, similar woundings and killing have befallen your enemies. { We alternate such days between people } : that is, We give the enemies a turn over you, even though the outcome is yours; this is Ours to decree. For this reason the Most High says: { So Allah may know those who have believed } ; Ibn ‘Abbas said in a similar regard: So we may see who is steadfast in combating the enemies. { And take martyrs from among you } : meaning that they fight in the cause of Allah and give their heart and soul for His good pleasure.
