{ Have you not seen those who left their homes by the thousands, wary of death, and Allah said to them: Die! and then brought them back to life? Indeed Allah is of bountiful favour towards people, but most people are not grateful. So fight for the sake of Allah, and know that Allah is hearing, knowing } Al-baqara 243-244

He (may His remembrance be exalted) means: Fight, oh Believers, for the sake of Allah – that is, in His religion [deen] that He has guided you to, not in obedience to Satan – fight the enemies of your religion, those who obstruct the cause of your Lord; do not avoid facing them and do not refrain from war with them; for indeed your life and your death are in my hand.
