{ They ask you about the sacred months – is there fighting during them? Say: Fighting during them is a great sin, although hindering from the cause of Allah, disbelief in Him and the Sacred Mosque, and driving its people out of it, are even greater in the sight of Allah; and sedition is worse than killing. They will not stop fighting you until they turn you away from your religion if they could; and whoever turns away from his religion and dies in disbelief - these are the ones whose deeds will come to nothing, neither in this world nor the next, and these are the inhabitants of Hellfire, abiding there forever } Al-baqara 217

From Al-Zuhri, who said: ‘Urwa ibn Al-Zubair told me that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) sent out a contingent of Muslims, and put Abdullah ibn Jahsh Al-Asadi in charge of them. They set out until they reached Nakhla, and found ‘Amr ibn Al-Hadrami there with a trading caravan of Quraysh, on the last day of the sacred month. And the Muslims got into an argument; one of them said: The only thing we know is that today is still the sacred month, and we don’t think you should make it lawful out of greed, which you are on the verge of doing. But those who desired the gains of this world got the best of the issue, and they assaulted Ibn Al-Hadrami, killed him, and took the booty from his caravan.
