{ Spend for the sake of Allah, and do not be thrown into ruin by your own hands; and do good, indeed Allah loves those who do good } Al-baqara 195

{ Spend for the sake of Allah } : the cause of Allah is His path, which He has ordered to be taken towards His enemy the Idolaters [Mushrikeen] in jihad and war against them. … Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas, regarding this verse { And do not be thrown into ruin by your own hands } , said: You are to spend in the cause of Allah, even if you only have an arrow or a dart that can be used to pierce for this. … Ibn ‘Abbas, regarding { And do not be thrown into ruin by your own hands } , said: “Ruin” is not someone getting killed in the cause of Allah, but rather holding back from spending in the cause of Allah. … Anyone who neglects attacking the Idolaters and waging jihad against them, when this is his duty, the Muslims being in need of this, has squandered an obligation, thrown by his own hand into ruin.
