“Harshness” is like forcefulness, and harshness is like pressure, and harshness is like indignation, as for example: { Be harsh to them } [Al-tawba 73], and: { Do not grow weary } [Al ‘Imran 139]. This brings together boldness, steadfastness in fighting, intensity of enmity, and violence in killing and capturing, along the lines of: { Let not any compassion for the two of them take hold of your hearts in the religion of Allah } [Al-nur 2].
