{ We do not abrogate any verse, nor cause it to be forgotten, but that We bring something better than it or similar to it; do you all not know that Allah is able to do all things? } Al-baqara 106

The word of the Most High: { We do not abrogate any verse, nor cause it to be forgotten, but that We bring something better than it } . The expositors say that indeed the Idolaters [Mushrikun] would say: Do you all see Muhammad? He orders his Companions to do something, then He prohibits them to do it, and orders them to do the opposite. He says one thing today and takes it back tomorrow. What is this Qur’an but the words of Muhammad of his own accord, words which contradict each other. So Allah sent down: { And whenever We substitute one verse in place of another … } and the rest of the verse [Al-nahl 101]; and He also sent down: { We do not abrogate any verse, nor cause it to be forgotten, but that We bring something better … } up to the rest of the verse.
