Zaid ibn Harith also raided Wadi Al-qura, and there he faced the Banu Fazarah; some men from among his companions were overcome there, and Zaid was struck and carried off amidst those killed … And when Zaid ibn Haritha came away he made a vow that no wash water from sexual impurity would touch his head [i.e. he would not have sex] until he invaded the Banu Fazarah. When he had recovered from his wounds, the Messenger of Allah (SAW) sent him out against Banu Fazarah with an army, and he killed them at Wadi Al-qura, overcoming them. Qais ibn Al-Musahhar Al-Ya’muri killed Mas’ada ibn Hakama ibn Malik ibn Hudhaifa ibn Badr. And Umm Qirfa Fatimah bint Rabi’a ibn Badr was taken prisoner – she was a very old woman and was the wife of Malik ibn Hudhaifa ibn Badr – along with a daughter of hers and Abdullah ibn Mas’ada. Zaid ibn Haritha ordered Qais ibn Al-Musahhar to kill Umm Qirfa, and he killed her violently. Then they came to the Messenger of Allah (SAW) with Umm Qirfa’s daughter and Mas’ada’s son. Umm Qirfa’s daughter belonged to Salama ibn ‘Amru ibn Al-Akwa’; he was the one who had taken her. She was of noble family among her people; the Arabs would say: If you had been more noble than Umm Qirfa you could not have gone any farther. Then the Messenger of Allah (SAW) asked Salama for her, and he gave her to him, and then He gave her to his uncle Hazn ibn Abi Wahb, and she bore him ‘Abd Al-Rahman ibn Hazn.
