From Sulaim ibn ‘Amir, who said: I heard Abu Umama say: I heard the Messenger of Allah (SAW) say: A martyr at sea is like two martyrs on dry land, and someone who gets sick at sea is like someone soaked in his own blood on dry land, and what is between two waves is like traversing this world in obedience to Allah. And indeed Allah Mighty and Sublime has appointed the Angel of Death to take hold of spirits, except a martyr at sea, for indeed He himself handles their spirits. And He forgives all the sins of a martyr on dry land except debt, but of a martyr at sea, sins and debt.
