زاد المعاد لإبن قيم الجهاد والغزوات
He would seek advice from his Companions on the issue of jihad, the issue of the enemy, and choosing places to camp. In the Mustadrak, related from Abu Huraira: I never saw anyone who asked his companions for advice more than the Messenger of Allah (SAW).
