From Al-Sha’bi who said: When ‘Adi ibn Hatim came to Kufa, we went to see him with a group of the legal scholars of Kufa and said to him: Tell us about what you heard from the Messenger of Allah (SAW). And he said: I went to the Prophet (SAW) and He said: Oh ‘Adi ibn Hatim, yield into Islam and be safe. I said: And what is Islam? He said: You bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah; and you believe in everything that is preordained – the good and bad of it, the sweet and bitter of it.
