{ Muhammad is the messenger of Allah, and those who are with him are severe against the Disbelievers but merciful with each other } ; He (may His remembrance be exalted) is saying: Muhammad is the messenger of Allah, and his followers from among his Companions, those who are with him in his religion [deen], are severe against the Disbelievers [Kuffar], their hearts harsh towards them and their mercy meager towards them. { Merciful with each other } : He is saying: Their hearts tender towards each other, their souls delicate towards them and at ease towards them.
