{ Surely We will put you all to the test so We can know those among you who wage jihad, and those who are steadfast; and We will test your reports } Muhammad 31

{ Surely We will put you all to the test } : and surely We will deal with you in the way those who are tested are dealt with, by ordering you to wage jihad and fight; { so We can know those among you who wage jihad, and those who are steadfast } : that is, to find out, meaning: So it can become clear who wages jihad and is steadfast in his religion from those who are not; { and We will test your reports } : that is, We will make them clear and expose them by way of the refusal of those who refuse to fight and are not steadfast in jihad.
