From Ibn ‘Abbas, who said: When the Prophet (SAW) was driven out of Mecca, Abu Bakr said: They have driven out their Prophet surely to their own destruction. And Allah sent down: { Permission has been given to those who fight, because they have been oppressed; indeed Allah is truly able to give them victory } and the rest of the verse. And Abu Bakr said: Then I knew that there would be fighting.
