{ Say: Do you all await anything for us other than one of two wonderful things? We also await for Allah to come upon you with punishment, from Him, or at our hands; so wait, indeed we wait with you } Al-tawba 52

He (may His remembrance be exalted) is saying to His Prophet Muhammad (SAW): Say, oh Muhammad, to these hypocrites, whose qualities I described to you and whose matter I made clear to you: Do you all expect us to get anything other than one of the two outcomes which are finer than anything else? Either triumph over the enemy and victory for us to subjugate them – and in this the reward, the spoils, and security; or our enemy killing us – and in this martyrdom, winning Jannah in victory, and safety from Hellfire. Both of these are things we love and do not despise, and we wait with you for Allah to bring His punishment upon you.
