{ Praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds } Al-fatiha 2

Scholars differ on which of the two is better for a man to say: “Praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds” [“Al-hamdu Lillah Rabb al-‘alamin”] or “There is no god but Allah” [“La ilaha illa Allah”]. One group says: It is better for him to say “Praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds”, because this includes the assertion of one god [tawhid] that is also found in “There is no god but Allah” – when he says this there is both tawhid and praise, whereas when he says “There is no god but Allah”, there is only tawhid. But another group says: “There is no god but Allah” is better, since it averts disbelief [kufr] and associating others in worship to Allah [ishrak]. All of mankind is to be fought over this; the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: I have been ordered to fight people until they say “There is no god but Allah.”
