It was narrated that a certain man asked a question of ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib, when he was seated at the pulpit of the Mosque in Kufa giving a sermon to the people; the man said: Oh Leader of the Faithful, what do you say about coming to women in their rears? And ‘Ali became furious and said: You’ve gone downhill! May Allah bring you down! Have you not heard the word of Allah Most High who says { Do you approach distasteful acts which no one in all the world has done before you? } [Al-a’raf 80]. Indeed this is the lesser sodomy; the people of Lot began with this, starting with women and then going to men.
