Al-Hasan Al-Basri said: A woman came to the Prophet (SAW) appealing to him for help from her husband, who had slapped her. The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: Retribution. But Allah Mighty and Sublime sent down { Men are constituted over women } and the rest of the verse. So she returned with no retribution.
