Al-hur (plural of hawraa): a young woman, dazzling, beautiful, white, with intense black eyes.
Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: hur in the speech of the Arabs is white; and Qatadah similarly said that hur is white. And Muqatil said hur is white-faced, and Mujahid said al-hur al-‘ain are those whose limbs are white on them, whose leg marrow is visible through their garments; and anyone who looks can see his face in the liver of any one of them, like a mirror, from the delicateness of skin and clarity of color.
Among the merits of a woman are wide and extended eyes; narrow eyes in a woman are among the flaws. Rather, narrowness is desirable on her in four places: her mouth, the openings of her ears, her nose, and “down there”.
