From Abdullah ibn Abi Awfa who said: When Mu’adh approached upon returning from Sham, he prostrated in worship to the Prophet (SAW), but He said: What is this, Mu’adh? He said: I went to Sham and came across them bowing down before their bishops and their superiors, and I wanted in my heart to do the same to you. And the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: Don’t any of you do that, for indeed if I were to order anyone to bow down to anyone besides Allah, I would order women to bow down to their husbands, and I swear by Him who holds Muhammad’s soul, women do not fulfill their duty to their Lord until they fulfill their duty to their husbands; and even if he asks her to give herself when she is on the back of a saddle, she must not refuse him.
