The word of the Most High { And beat them } ; Allah has ordered to begin with an admonishing for women first, then abandonment; and if these two do not accomplish anything, then a beating; indeed this is that which corrects her for him, and brings her to fulfillment of his rights. And "beating" in this verse is a respectable beating, not severe, that which does not break any bones or impair any limbs, like a punch or similar.
